Put Me in the Zoo

Wednesday was Ella's first trip to the zoo. We had a lot of fun together and really enjoyed the butterfly display at Como. Ella saw a lot of great animals, including: giraffes, Sparky the seal, fish, zebras, monkeys and more!
Butterflies, everywhere!

"Hey, I have a giraffe on my shirt...and there are real giraffes!"
Ella and Sparky

Ella and the Sparky statue - she was able to stand by herself holding onto the ball.
Another wild animal feeding.
An Ella-sized zebra!
We attempted to be good parents and start baby proofing. Ella is now able to pivot on her stomach so I have this feeling that rolling, scooting, crawling, standing are just around the corner and will all happen quickly. Unfortunately, our house is old and babyproofing our kitchen is nearly impossible. Our cabinets can't have safety latches because of their construction so we've decided we'll just have to latch the chemical cabinet and food cabinet and then gate her out of the kitchen. I figure children survived previously growing up in houses built in the 1920s...otherwise, we'd have problems.
This is the monkey we brought home.

Love her coodinated zoo outfit! The giraffe on her shirt is a nice touch. When my Ella went to the zoo she wore her ella-phants shirt. Too cute. Loran looks like he is having a blast.
