Just my funny tidbit for the day...
This morning, Ella and I volunteered in the Precious Lambs room during Bible Study. When Ella is in Precious Lambs during my Bible Study, I always get such wonderful feedback about what a great girl she is, always so happy and smiley, busy and content. Of course, when I'm volunteering and she's in my room, it's the complete opposite. She was just cranky and needy. Heaven forbid I hold another child...
But then, the children are all sitting at the table eating their animal cracker snack and juice. Ella, one of the smallest kids there, is sitting at the little table, surrounded by mostly 3 year olds, and there's my baby holding her snack cup and eating crackers from it, just like a big kid. It made my heart melt.
But earlier, she'd been sitting at the same table with coloring sheets and crayons while I played with someone else. I look over at her and she's just chewing away and coloring. I check to see what she's eating...a huge chunk of red crayon. Ugh. I fish it out and she immediately picks up green and takes a bite like it's a piece of food. She also toddled up to me later to use my pants leg as a tissue - so...
And in pregnancy news...perhaps some of you who have had children will remember that in your second trimester, it becomes difficult to lay on your back. When you do, everything shifts back and rests on a major artery. The pressure on the artery causes you to feel nauseated, makes it difficult to breathe and you can get dizzy. So yesterday, I'm at the dentist. I asked to be elevated a little more than usual because I'd had trouble with this before with Ella. So I'm mid-way through my appointment when suddenly, the wave of nausea comes over me, I suddenly start sweating and getting warm. I ask to sit up. But, I'm completely and totally dizzy so they lay me all the way down and elevate my legs. To add to the embarrassment, I now have the entire staff in my cleaning room - plugging in fans, giving me cold compresses, ice packs, water and general comforting words. I can't even focus on who's there because my vision is like a fishbowl. I felt kind of bad for the guy they abandoned who was having some work done! I finally rolled onto my side and felt immediately better. So, I spent the rest of the visit on my side, twisted so my head could face up with an ice pack on the back of the neck and a fan trained on me. The second half of the appointment went a lot faster - the hygienist was quick to get me up and out! And to top it off, I have to go back next week to get a cracked filling replaced. This time, I'm bringing a pillow so I can prop myself on my side and hopefully not cause drama! Sometimes, you just have to push the embarrassment to the side and power on - 'tis the life of a pregnant woman.
