Ella didn't cry, she wasn't too shy, she didn't even vomit! The reason for the short visit? Ella. would. not. open. her. mouth. No way, no how. They weren't going to count or brush her teeth. She was plenty friendly when they weren't trying to see her teeth. Even got a sticker. She just isn't ready for a dental visit yet. I didn't think she was, but they insisted.
We're also working on potty training again. We finally had a success last night before bed. After several accidents and underwear changes, it was nice to have a victory. Too bad it was right before bed. This morning, we've had no accidents since coming home from the dentist. No accidents either, so that means Ella's Pull-Up will get quite the workout during nap time.
As if enough milestones weren't happening in our house, Lillian seems to be ready to try some solid foods. She's showing some readiness clues. In fact, eating a meal with her present entices her to do her best baby bird impression, opening her mouth wide when we put food in our own mouths. I'm going to make her some oatmeal to try this weekend. I'm going to skip rice cereal since it has no nutritive value and doesn't taste that amazing either. I'd wanted to wait until after our Montana trip, at which point she'd be 6.5 months just for the ease of not having to feed her baby food on the trip and it would save on packing. But, like most things, kids have a way of throwing monkey wrenches into your best laid plans. Perhaps the weekend food trial will be a disaster and we'll still get to wait, but baby bird really wants to get her mouth on something savory.
