After some new toy time and a nap, we put the newly clean Christmas dresses on – anytime they get to wear tights is reason for excitement to Ella, who then passes the excitement onto Lillian. Yay! Beautiful dresses! We were off to Fort Awesome for a Gutt Family Christmas.
Lillian was not in the mood for family photos. Luckily, Nathan is an expert photographer.
Lillian regaled us with more music before gift opening. The girls had a great time opening gifts and helping others open theirs, passing out gifts and just supervising the process to make sure we were doing it correctly. Ella did a great job at dinner and Lillian didn’t throw quite as much rice around, but she did work on her snow globe techniques.
Loran got his high school diploma! Merry Christmas!
The girls kept Nathan busy playing and reading with them. Ella, especially, is pretty infatuated with Uncle Nathan.
After the festivities, we headed over to the Beavens house for the annual Woman You Made Too Much Damn Food Day. It took the girls a few minutes to get comfortable. Once they warmed up, they were the life of the party. They made fast friends with our friend Josh, who seemed to relate to their level quite easily. They loved playing with Josh, when he’d sit down, they’d cuddle up next to him.
I think the girls would agree that when Daddy picked Nathan and Loran to be his co-best men in our wedding, he definitely picked the best men (besides Daddy of course)!
As we were leaving, there were only a few familiar faces left. Ella was sure to give Ma and Pa Beavens a hug, Josh and Mikey too, but then she looked around the room at the remaining faces and despite the fact that she (and we) didn’t know them, she went from person to person around the room and gave them all a hug. It as quite unexpected and quite cute on Ella’s part. In her young age, she knows that WYMTMDF day is a time to come together as friends at the same time, same place, same day – count on it!
