Sledding Round 2

Early in the snow season, we took the girls sledding. It proved to be great fun and we couldn’t wait to get more snow and sled all through the winter. Well, that snow never really came…

Then we had our little ice/snow storm that provided the first/probably only snow day for Ella and refreshed our sledding hill. We took advantage of the snow and warmer temperatures to take the girls to the hill. It’s a good thing we did, as yesterday it was 66 degrees and sunny and today it is in the 50s and raining. We’ve switched out our snow boots for rain boots early this year! Fine by me.

By the end of our sledding adventure, the girls were able to go down the hills on their sleds solo. You’d think Loran and I would spend those blissful minutes at the top of the hill watching our little bundles ride a plastic tub down a hill. Nope, we chased them all the way down. Because we were taking “the amateur” side of the hill that has a gentle hill, rather than the steeper hill toward the lake, the hill was also going toward a driveway. While not frequented often, there was a case where a “senior” driver pulled in, and we weren’t entirely confident that they would notice that bright pink puff ball coming down the hill in the bright orange sled…so, we jogged alongside the sledder.

After sledding, we warmed up with some hot chocolate – Lily’s first! Both enjoyed their tiny mugs along with a Valentine sucker. Lily quickly figured out that she could dip her sucker into the chocolate, thereby creating a decadent, if not messy treat!

It was a good way to bid farewell to winter. Next up – puddles!
