The girls were able to experience their first theatrical performance at the ZACH Theatre in Austin. We purchased tickets to Goodnight Moon for a Saturday afternoon. We went with the cheap seats, not knowing how the girls would react to the play. And because the seating diagram wasn’t really to scale, the cheap seats that seemed so far from the stage were really only four rows back.
Loran and I weren’t sure how they’d stretch a fairly short bedtime story that we both know by heart into a full length play. We also weren’t sure we wouldn’t go bonkers having read the book ourselves 2,583 times each. However, they did it, it was really good, and all of us enjoyed our beloved bedtime tale.
Upon leaving the building, passing the cast on the way out, Ella and Lily’s eyes were huge. They couldn’t believe they were seeing the rabbit in the play or the old lady who whispers hush. Amazement. Ella asked if we could go back and see it again, immediately. I’ve even caught them acting out parts and singing some of the songs. Not bad after one viewing!
