Let’s Rally for Kallie!

Friends and family, we need your help! Our friend from high school, Jessica Brovold (Jessica took photos of our family, seen here) has a young son and daughter. Her four year old daughter, Kallie, was just diagnosed with a rare, grade III brain tumor called anaplastic astrocytoma. She’s already undergone one 15 hour brain surgery to remove part of the tumor, but now the real fight begins. Her family is following up with several hospitals and doctors around the US to find the right treatment for Kallie to hopefully rid her of the remnants of the tumor.

We know, from experience, MRIs are not cheap, ambulance rides and overnights in the hospital are not cheap. I can’t imagine the price tag on brain surgery, followed up by aggressive chemo and/or radiation, hospital stays, scans, tests, plus travel. However, Kallie’s life is priceless. At four years old, she’s already a ball of spunk, a firecracker like Lily and just a sweet girl complete with beautiful brown curls.

I don’t ask much from my readers. No “vote for me” in photo contests, I don’t hound you with various school fundraisers…candy, wrapping paper, butter braids? This is my request – donate to Kallie. Skip your latte, have a date night in, forgo the fast food. Anything and everything helps.

I can’t help but watch my two sweet girls playing dolls or Barbies, coloring, dancing and playing dress-up and thinking this is what being a little girls is all about. A free-flowing imagination and genuine love of life. My heart breaks thinking of Kallie, at the young, vibrant age of four, facing such a fight. I’m hoping the Brovold family will feel the overwhelming love of family, friends and strangers embracing them, holding them up in prayer, and supporting them financially as they fight to save Kallie.
