New Play Room!

Ella with her cat hat. The second picture is the look I think I'll get throughout her teenage years.

Just cute!

This is my $50 room makeover. We have an extra room outside of our bedroom. It could be another bedroom, but the stairs empty into it and you'd have to walk through it to get to our room, so it's too awkward for a bedroom. We've used it as an office/exercise/catch-all room. Most of the time it just has baskets of clean laundry and piles of papers to be filed. Somewhere in all of the mess is usually the cat. My computer was up there too. Well, I decided to move my workspace downstairs so I can be closer to Ella as she starts exploring more.
I drew my inspiration from one of Ella's books, Hondo and Fabian. I just love the drawings. I scored a free club chair from craigslist. I still covered it, but it's in great condition and doesn't really need a cover.
Here's the breakdown:
- Chair: free
- Curtain fabric: free (leftovers)
- Clipboards: $14
- Wooden pieces & paint: $15
- King sheet set for chair cover: $20
Now we have a place for big toys - including Ella's playhouse from Great Grandma and Grandpa Straight. I have a feeling that will get a lot of use this winter!

Patchwork curtains and tie-backs I made with Ella's baby shoes. Along with Loran's teddy and my rabbit from childhood.

One of my favorite Hondo and Fabian pics mounted on a clipboard.

Time to get Ella up and ready so we can go to the post office, library and explore the farmer's market!

Wow Martha, nice work! I love the patchwork curtains, they are adorable. That room looks like a lot of fun for little Ella!
