I thought I'd killed her

I had a scare this morning.

Ella woke up early - 6:45 - and I got her up at 7:00. We played and hung out and eventually had some breakfast. She's past her solid strike and has been eating well lately. She was gnawing on a biter biscuit which is very messy and slimy, but she loves them! A while back, she bit a piece off and choked on it but coughed it up before any intervention was needed. This morning, I'd already had to scrape a mushy glob from the roof of her mouth.

Anyway...

She was busy gnawing away on it and I was standing a foot from her sending an email. I looked over and she was slumped in her highchair, eyes closed. OMG! My baby has choked to death!

No, the early bird had just fallen asleep...biter biscuit in hand.

I got in her face, shook her little head and said her name and she opened her eyes looking at me with that groggy expression. Just to make sure, I unbuckled the oatmeal and blueberry coated baby to lift and wake her. She was fine, just sleepy. And definitely emphasized that she was able to breathe when I washed her face and she screamed at me.

Ella's now up from the morning nap that followed my scare, happy as can be and is on the way to the grocery store with me!
