Bayley Scales of Infant Development

Yesterday, Ella had her development test. Two teachers came to administer it. She definitely qualifies for services based on her lack of motor development, but this checked everything. It was really fun to watch Ella go through the testing. She was interested in the new toys and was in a pretty good mood, so she was very chatty and willing to perform. The funniest part was watching her reactions to each toy. Usually, she'd be pretty reserved about picking them up from the tray. Then, they put Cheerios down to see how her pincer grip works - no hesitation there! She went right for those cheerios, just like a wild animal at feeding time!

Next week, we'll meet with them and get the results of her tests. Then they'll write up her IFSP - Individual Family Service Plan (like and IEP but for the under 3 crowd).

We'll get services eventually and then I'll be writing about what a little terror she is around the house! The cat is in for a world of hurt!

We're watching the snowfall and even though lunch is behind us, Ella is still going strong - but a nap is in her immediate future, once we get rid of that foul smell she's emanating.

In other terror news - Ella is getting a little personality - she understands the word "no" and will stop whatever she's doing. BUT, now if she's doing something like hitting your face and you tell her "no", she'll shake her head 'no' and stick her tongue out. Then, she will do a couple of her tricks, like clapping or 'so big' to win you over, then she goes right back to being naughty. And this is how it starts...

The following pictures were taken a week ago in the hospital waiting room while my grandma was having surgery. The hospital had a little kids room in the surgical waiting room that had lots of toys, little furniture and a tv. Ella and I watched Sesame Street and I spent some time tidying the room up and rearranging the furniture. Then I pushed Ella around in the car for a half hour - she thought it was amazing. She really liked to stop, open the door, look down and then close it again.
