Poor Ella had to have a blood draw. We didn't think much of it, but we had to go over to Burnsville Ridges Hospital - not impressed. Their lab could only serve one person at a time. There was only one person ahead of us and I think we were there about 45 minutes. Partially because one of Ella's lab tests ordered is quite complex, so they had to research what was needed for it. Once we got called back, we were informed that Ella had to give a lot of blood. Poor girl had to fill two large syringes. She actually did okay, but cried throughout. Then, as is her way, threw up on the table. Luckily, she'd only been eating Goldfish crackers so it wasn't terribly rude.
Needless to say, she passed out in the car on the way home. Out of exhaustion, not blood loss.
Because of the long wait with the lab, we were falling behind to get to our appointment for Bearclaw. Luckily, Nana was able to meet us at the doctor's office and switch cars with us so Ella could be on her way to get some lunch.
Our Bearclaw appointment was for the NT Scan which takes a few measurements, including the back of the neck and then a blood draw to check for Down's Syndrome. Of the four NT Scans the tech had done that day, Bearclaw's was the easiest. Partially, because it was just chilling out- relaxing. It did have some hiccups, probably due to the rootbeer I had prior to the scan. It was funny. Bearclaw kept putting its hands by its face and stretched out a little. Strong little heartbeat at 155. We even got some photos in 3D, which were neat, if not a little freaky. We tried 4D which includes real-time motion, but that was the time that Bearclaw decided to be perfectly still!
My blood draw was really easy, just a finger prick. With Ella's NT Scan, the blood draw was a bad experience that left me in tears and Loran near pass-out. So, by far, this was a great experience.
And then it went all 3D...
Here, Bearclaw is looking down, pointing to where the feet would be if it hadn't been moving it's feet during that particular scan capture. See, right where those stumps are, feet!
So now we wait 6-8 weeks for Ella's blood results and to get Bearclaw's big ultrasound and hopefully find out which pronoun to use when referring to IT. In the immediate future, it would be nice if Ella would take a nap. As of now, she's trying to prove to me that her 40 minute in the car was enough. Well...maybe not enough for me little girl! Guess that means I should resort to a Diet Coke

Those are amazing pictures and you have one very brave little girl. Great Auntie Kathy needs to give her a big hug. Ok, Mom and Dad, too.
