Rolling Along...

Now a post in which I get to boast about Lily's accomplishments!

Little Lillian turned three months old yesterday. She's definitely getting bigger, she insisted that I adjust her highchair so it's not completely reclined. She likes it in a semi-upright position now so she can see things better. Mostly, she likes to watch Ella and just smiles when Ella talks and sings. Ella was even nicer to Lily yesterday, offering up a few unsolicited hugs and only hit Lily in the head with a book once. Progress...

Ella was fine with this, until she realized Lily was sucking on her hand...

Ella was "reading" The Very Hungry Caterpillar to Lily.

Lily is also enjoying rattles. We put them in her chair with her and she finds them, picks them up and swings them around wildly, sometimes bonking herself in the head and then looking quite surprised at the offending object and it's outright violence towards her.

But most exciting, last night, while doing tummy time before bed (when Ella's in bed is when it's safest), Lily was joyfully participating. Typically, she will tolerate it for a few minutes and then carry on as if we're torturing her. She was quite happy on her stomach and then just rolled over, gracefully. She didn't have much of a reaction other than acting like it was completely planned with an expected outcome. Loran and I didn't actually see it. He was in the other room and I was watching The Biggest Loser, finally. But there was much rejoicing. Loran felt bad that he'd missed it, but I was excited that he was actually home for it. At least he didn't miss it because he was caught up in a montage of obesity chronicling someone's struggle to lose crazy amounts of weight over the course of 15 weeks....while sitting two feet away from the rolling baby. But, when we placed Lily on her tummy, she rolled over again while we both watched! So hey, why not try a third time? She did it, but this time, less graceful and there was a bit of a head bonk. Which of course, made her cry...So, we ended tummy time, declaring it a success. Loran and I were beaming with happiness!

This is a first for us. We may be seasoned parents, but we've never had a baby roll over. And never multiple times. It's pretty neat that even though Lillian is our second baby, she still gets to have some milestones all to herself. It's not a repeat for us. Both girls have had their own firsts at their own times and each one is just as special.  You don't realize how big the little things are, until they're missing.
