Happy 1/2 Birthday Lillian!

It hardly seems possible that it’s been 18 months since Lillian made her grand entrance into the world, in true Lillian style. We brought Lily in for her 18 month well child appointment last night and both girls were rockstars. Ella was actually psyched to be there. She was uber happy and super helpful. She followed the nurse around like a puppy and exclaimed, “wow! neat! cool!” whenever appropriate. Lillian was a little more reserved and shy. Perhaps it’s the fact that she was the only one only wearing only their underclothes, or perhaps she understood that fact meant she was the only one due to get poked, prodded and shot at. All in all, she did well with only a few tears and screams. Here are the stats:

Height: 33 inches – 95%

Weight: 20 3/4 pounds – 5% (she’s up from 0%!)

Head: 18 inches – 25%

Lily is rocking her growth curve, from both ends. And the fact that she continues to stay on the curve means she has not earned herself the failure to thrive status!! HOORAY! She may be skinny, but she’s consistently skinny! Her calories go towards her height. She passed her autism screening, continues on the high fat diet, gets to start multivitamins and the doctor even thinks she’s ready to start potty training soon. She may be on the cusp of being ready, but am I?? She’s ahead on her developmental milestones. The doctor can’t get over how night and day different the girls are, even down to their hair! She just loves them. The nurse can’t get over how tall Lily is for her age. Lillian only received one shot, which was quick and she recovered even quicker. We are no longer on the three month doctor schedule, we now won’t go back for six months, at Lily’s two year appointment, and then only yearly (except for those flu shots…but don’t tell the girls that!). Growing up!

Behold, Lillian Caroline at 18 months!

On Lily’s official half birthday on Saturday, we went to Teddy Bear park after dinner. Both girls had a blast playing and love the slides. They were off and running non-stop from the moment we got there, until the park’s closing time. A great time was had by all!

And while Lily may be tall, she’s got some growing to do. In the house we live in, we found the measurements of my cousins in the garage. I decided to see how Miss Long and Lean compared to her cousins (okay, second cousins once removed). One of which, Jacob, is extremely tall, Lily seems to fall short of Jacob’s height at age 1 1/2 by about an inch and a half.

So for comparison, I have this photo from Christmas with Jacob, Loran and Lily (12 mos.) Just for clarification, I cropped the entire rest of the family out, just so you know we weren’t taking odd family grouping photos…anyway, Loran is 5’ 10” which is the average height for a white man of his age group. Jacob, obviously, taller at age 20.

So here’s ham bone, I mean, Lily… already busting off the chart for height, but she’s still got a ways to go to catch up to Jacob.

I like that Katie Schnee is also captured on the "How Tall Wall"
