Early June, we had a big weekend. Saturday morning, we celebrated our good friend Hunter’s second birthday. The girls always refer to him as “Baby Hunter” but now that he’s two, I think we have to phase out the “Baby” part of that moniker. The girls had a great time partying. Who wouldn’t have fun? Food, a swing set, friends and an Elmo cake! Perfect recipe for fun! They were beyond excited for Hunter to open his gift from them – a giant bubble bucket with a giant jug of bubbles!
Hunter’s party wound down and we ditched Daddy and picked up Grandma and Chelsey for a baby shower. The shower was to honor Brianna, the mommy-to-be to baby Peyton. Nothing makes you feel old like attending a baby shower for a child you used to babysit. The girls did a great job at the party, but they didn’t know what to expect from a baby shower. Ella did quietly take me aside to tell me that the “Baby Party” wasn’t very fun. I think she was expecting more babies and more partying. But, there was candy, so that was a hit. Ella eventually stepped in to help facilitate present opening, so that made her quite happy. Both girls were asleep within blocks of leaving the party. When they awoke, as we were approaching home, Ella says, “Where did my buddies go?!” Referring to Grandma and Chelsey who had been dropped off as she slept. It was pretty cute.
Sunday was our second annual trip to Danish Days. Are we Danish? No. But, the Danes put on a good party, so we can be Danish for a day! There’s food, music, Viking demonstrations and this year – a bounce house! Ella and Lily didn’t really like going in the house, but bouncing on the front step was just as fun and less confining. They still got their bounce on, be it modified…Lily even tried to fool us into thinking she would take a nap in her stroller. That lasted about 90 seconds, but it was fun while it lasted!
Loran and Lily are not Danish, but they’re dressed the part.
