The house is coming along quite well! We have a closing date of April 26th! We put our notice in for our apartment and our last day is May 5th and our apartment has already been re-leased, so let’s hope everything goes according to plan as the last details are taken care of and the final checklists and inspections are started.
The day I’d waited and waited for came – countertops installed! Then they were covered in a semi-translucent blue covering to protect them, so I haven’t quite gotten the full effect. But, the backsplash tiles were also installed and they’re quite lovely!
The day the girls had been waiting for also arrived – stairs down to the yard! And a railing, whew! The girls have been anticipating these stairs and were overjoyed to see them. I think it symbolizes a degree of freedom to them, to be able to leave the house and go play outside. They have profusely thanked our builder each time they’ve seen him since the install.
I just like this photo that looks like the girls are jailed. Our front door was installed! No more icky construction door!
Little details like corbels, door knobs, trim work and door stops that go booooinnnng.
One afternoon we arrived and Lillian immediately noticed the blue potty (porta potty) was removed from our yard. She was devastated. Despite never using the blue potty, she really enjoyed the idea of having a toilet in the front yard. But when we went in the house, we saw that we now had toilets in the house! Score!
Potty-free yard.
Playing in the master shower and the counter in the girl’s playroom installed.
Mirrors started going in and the shower surround.
Appliances!
Laundry room sink and powder room sink and mirror!
Wood floors! Which were promptly covered up with brown paper.
Gigantic moths!
New neighbor’s house!
