Wiggle Wiggle

It's happening. I've dreaded it. It makes me squeamish. Tonight, we discovered that Ella has her first loose tooth. She was biting on a blanket at bedtime and it hurt her, she told me it was bleeding. Sure enough, I wiggled the tooth and it didn't stand firm like its buddy. And behind it a tiny permanent tooth is starting to poke out.

Ella is SO excited. Many in her class have lost quite a few teeth already. She's a mix of excitement and apprehension. I am too, when it's your own child's loose tooth, it's not as gross. Ella is now "favoring" her tooth, talking like she has cotton in her mouth and drooling because she's afraid to swallow.

Lily burst into tears. She wanted to know if she would lose a tooth when she turns four. She cried even harder when I told her she'd probably have to wait until she is six. She cried even harder when I told her her job was to be happy for Ella.

There's a lot of growing up happening in our house tonight.
