Nana and Papa Visited!

At the end of June, Nana and Papa made the drive down to visit us! Unfortunately, I didn’t take a lot of photos, but it was a nice mix of relaxing and playing at home, and sight seeing. We had great weather. A few showers here and there and low temps for June.

One night, we took everyone downtown to see the flight of the bats. We loaded up on snacks and took our spot on the hill and waited. And waited. And waited. And then…they started coming. And just kept coming. We’ve seen the bats a few times now, but this was one of the better showings. We went for a closer look near the bridge, and armed with my phone, I made a feeble attempt at taking a photo. I knew I couldn’t use a flash because it wouldn’t work well, but lo and behold, someone else’s flash shot at the perfect time for my camera. Boom! Bats, bridge, downtown!

Another afternoon, we headed to downtown Georgetown to explore the downtown. We found an adorable toy store that we spent most of our time at.

After our tour of Georgetown, we went to a Round Rock Express game. The girls were pumped to be there. Lily was really excited to see Spike, the mascot. Loran told her that she should give Spike the biggest hug ever, if she was able to see him. When it was time for Spike to sign autographs, the girls, Loran and I ran up to see him at his dog house. It started innocently enough. Lily went first, handed her card to Spike and he started signing it. Then she went in. Lily was going to complete the biggest hug ever. She latched on. She remained latched on. Spike started signing Ella’s card while Lily stayed latched on, hugging away. Eventually, it got awkward, so we peeled her off and she and Ella posed for a photo. But Lily achieved her dream. She gave Spike the biggest hug ever. I’m happy we’re still welcome back to Dell Diamond.

During their stay we were able to enjoy a day trip to Fredericksburg where we were able to enjoy the downtown, farmer’s market, a big German dinner and came home with a sack of peaches!

We had a night out for dinner nearby while the girls stayed with their babysitter. A delicious meal, adult conversation, and lake views. It was great!

Loran and I got out a few times, just the two of us.

Lily went on a date with Nana and Papa to one of her favorite restaurants (Old McDonald’s) and they strolled through the Galleria, happening upon the grand opening of a party store. Lily came home with balloons (she even got one for Ella) and party favors.

We toured model homes, explored neighborhoods, played at parks.

Nana and Papa participated in quite a few tea parties and learned how to care for our toy horses. Books were read, games were played, we even spent an afternoon at the pool.

We were sad to see Nana and Papa leave on Friday morning. They left a day early, and were able to miss some nasty storms along the way.

We had a great week. The guest room is always open!
